What we are doing and the dates we are doing them. These are key items that should be on your schedule!

FRC 2010/2011 schedules

Important dates are in FRC 2010 Calendar, FRC 2011 Calendar and listed below. We will keep you posted as the dates change and become confirmed.

Just because the build season is over it does not mean that FRC is over. Now comes the fun part of driving the robot at competitions. We have 2 more off season events in 2010. Come cheer DEWBOT VI on as it plays Breakaway

VEX Roboteers

Our new season playing Round Up started September 23 at the Downingtown Robotics Center from 6:30-8:30 PM on both Tuesday and Wednesday nights. New and experienced roboteers in 7th to 12th grade are welcome! See our Round Up page for more details.

News updates for Round Up
The best location to find out current information is this website. The VEX-MEN also have a VEX-MEN weekly blog

VEX Mentors - Mentor Workshops

Due to space constraints at the Micklen building we were unable to hold our regular Mentor Sessions. We are having a special all day session on Sunday 7 November from 8:30-4PM at the Downingtown Robotics Center 320 Boot Road. We will cover mechanicals, grippers and grabbers, all the VEX components. In the afternoon we will be doing software and sensors. Contact Bob at VEXMEN dot COM or Foster dot Schucker at STEMRobotics dot Org for more details (Say the emails out loud, it will make more sense)

See you on the 7th!

FIRST Lego League

The second season of the Downingtown Robotics FIRST Lego League is about to start. Registration is now open and is being handled by the Downingtown Area Recreation Consortium. The official kickoff is Friday, September 3, when FIRST will post the new 2010-2011 competition. Our meetings will be held at Lionville Elementary School on Monday evenings from 6:15 to 8:00, starting on September 13.

See FIRST Lego League 2009 for information about last years season.

Upcoming events:

PARC - 4-June-2011

Sab-BOT-age is registered for the Pennsylvania Robotics Competition (PARC) in Tunkhannock PA, hosted by team 222 (Tigertrons). PARC is the oldest off-season FRC event and one of Clem's favorites; we in-fact seem to have participated at PARC since before 1640 was founded (don't ask how). While this competition has been declining in attendance of late, the teams registered are formidable advesaries. This competition will be no walk in the PARC. We were Champions here with DEWBOT V. Maybe Curry Donuts has curry in their donuts now. Only one way to find out!

(BR)2 - 11-June-2011

A relatively new off-season competition, Sab-BOT-age has attended every Bridgewater-Raritan Battle Royale (BR)2 since its innauguration. A bit of a brawl (this is New Jersey, after all). 1640 received a very nice Engineering Excellence award last year. Hosted by our old friends (and 2011 Philadelphia alliance partner), Team 303 (Panther Robotics)

IRI - 22 & 23 July-2011

The Indiana Robotics Invitational (IRI) is the penultimate off-season FRC event. You will never see such an assembly of consistently good FRC robots anywhere else. We've put our name into the hat and will soon see whether we're worthy.

Duel on the Delaware - 22-Oct-2011

A great off-season event hosted by 365 (Miracle Workerz) and 316 (Lunatechs) at Salem County Community College.
