Tasks Reflections
Hanging
  • We had great success tonight with a first working prototype of our robot hanging. We equipped our robot with a wench and tension stick and hook. The robot actual was able to hang!!! There is still lots more to do to make this capability ready for competition, but it is a great start and rewarding to see some quick results.
  • It was really exciting to see the robot hang. Next steps are to program the motors and to get this under driver control. We also want more sustainability and reliability.
Programming
  • Plans for Autonomous improvements:

Make autonomous less dependent on motor encoders. We currently need to have the robot arrive within 8 inches or so in front of the white line that runs to beacon. It we miss that 8 inch window, we usually miss finding and tracking the white line.

  • The idea for a solution: have the robot find the white line by approach from the side, not the front. TODO: add a sketch of the new robot approach path.
