For the past five years, the Chester County Intermediate Unit’s (CCIU’s) Technical College High School (TCHS) has very generously supported Downingtown Area Robotics’ (DAR’s) educational program by providing us with a home in which the team and the program has been able to thrive and growBut nothing lasts forever and important new construction at the TCHS means that DAR will be moving to a new baseEffective July 1<sup>st</sup>, DAR will operate out of 190 Exton Square Mall.

Larry Dodds has graciously stepped up to the role of Head Mentor for [[FRC Team 1640 | FRC team 1640 (Sab-BOT-age)]]This is a role that Larry has effectively been filling through the 2018 season.  FRC 1640 is DAR’s flagship.

While DAR is leaving the TCHS, our partnership with the CCIU and TCHS remains important and strong.  We continue to cooperate in hosting educational robotics events including the D-Town Dust-off FLL scrimmage, the Downingtown FLL Qualifying Tournament and a TechGirlz workshop.

Downingtown Area Robotics (home of Team Sab-BOT-age) moves, reorganizes, grows

Well, it is that time of year again and the FLL 2018 game, Into Orbit will be announced in a little over a week. We have a tentative schedule for getting started that I wanted to share with everyone so you could make your August plans without conflicts.

This year we will be holding two Open House events to get everyone familiar with the program and provide a glimpse into the world of FLL and Lego Robotics. We would like everyone to attend one of these events especially if you have not participated in FLL before. For those returning, it will give you an opportunity to see our new facility and meet some of the new participants. The week after the open house events, we will be have two Parent/Student meetings for those expecting to participate this year. Please plan to attend one of these meetings. We will outline the season and discuss expectations and requirements along with a meet & greet for the kids. Finally, we will have a Coach Training session for those interested in coaching a team.
